Recital XLIV

Held on Sunday, June 21st, 2026, at the Gas Station Arts Centre, Recital XLIV was stunning as usual. The Telegramfeatured the Annual Recital, showcasing the students’ artistry in its June/July issue.

Congratulations to one and all for a smooth, sensational public performance by our aspiring music and dance students.

School Opening at New Location

Dance and Music classes for the academic year 2026–2027 will begin on Saturday, September 5th, and Sunday, September 6th, 2026, at our new location:

Registration

Parents and mature students are invited to register before classes begin. An initial fee of $45.00 covers registration for all three terms.

Fees

Registration and Term I fees must be paid by Sunday, October 4th, 2026. A late fee of $10.00 will be added for each week after that date.

We encourage parents to hand in post-dated cheques in September for Term II and Term III.

Performances

Thanks are due to the parents and students who represented India School at workshops and community performances.

Thanks also to Folklorama 2026 and to the Pavilions that hosted India School as guest performers.

Reference Letters

Please put your request in for reference letters at least 10 days in advance. This rule applies to teachers and students. No exceptions!

All letters will be signed by the Executive Director of the India School. A contribution of $25.00 towards a designated scholarship fund will be greatly appreciated.

Music & Dance Schedules

Please note that dance students who completed last year at the India School are promoted to a higher group. For example, last year’s Beginners will be this year’s Group I.

Please consult your dance schedule for dates and timing when you register.

Music students, please consult your teachers for class schedules. The timings of classes are subject to change during the first few weeks, depending on registration and availability of studio space.

Theatre & Dramaturgy in South Asian Performing Arts

A two-part workshop with artistic director Deepti Gupta from Arzoo Theatre was held on July 23rd and July 24th, 2026.

These two connected sessions were designed to build on one another and were open to students, teachers, alumni, and community members with an interest in theatre, dance, storytelling, or performance.

Previous participants and new students are encouraged to join this theatre department, as no prior experience is required.

Historical Book Launch

For the first time, the Golden Boy Room at the Legislative Building was opened on June 28, 2026, to welcome and honour the inductees featured in South Asian Pioneers: The First Wave (1970–2022).

The book was officially launched with great aplomb, celebrating the remarkable contributions and achievements of the pioneers featured in this historic volume.

The first press edition is still available for purchase for $30.00 at the ISDMT Studio or by contacting a member of the management committee.
